How To Overcome Fear And Create A Vision For Your Life

Fear keeps most people from clarifying and articulating a vision for their lives. Looking around it’s not hard to see why. Surrounded by uncertainty at every level people are immobilized by fear. How can you move forward with a clear direction when circumstances are always changing?

Uncertainty is exactly why you need a clear vision for every area of your life. Regrets are many but looking back many people are sorry they didn’t have the courage to live a life true to themselves . Living without a vision has great consequences.  In Proverbs 29:18 we read the often quoted …

Where there is no vision, the people perish.

Perish! That’s pretty strong language! Even if you put the Bible aside, we all know by observation there are many who aimlessly wander through their lives without clear direction and perish on various levels. Lack of vision can cause your business, your marriage, your relationship with your children and more – TO PERISH!

I used to struggle to articulate a vision for what I would accomplish with my life. Sure my business was well planned, but I put no effort into writing out my life plan. Vision takes us towards our preferred future and you can end up somewhere on purpose. No more aimless wandering, but, it takes effort to create a plan.

Recently, a friend showed me a diagram that captures the solution. Picture a circle with 4 sections. Fear – Vision – Strategy – Implementation.  Most get stuck on section 1 – fear of defining our goals. This process repeats itself in all areas of our lives. Understanding this cycle can give you an opportunity for positive change. Change the cycle in your approach to life and step into Vision. One great resource to help you do this is a book Visioneering by Andy Stanley .

“Visioneering” is the engineering of a vision. It’s the process that is defined with accuracy and followed intentionally to develop and maintain vision. Vision, writes Andy Stanley, “is a clear mental picture of what could be, fueled by the conviction that it should be.”

In the bestselling Vissioneering, Stanley builds a compelling case for the necessity of a clear, God-ordained vision for each of the roles of your life. Whether you’re a parent with a vision for your children or a CEO pursuing a corporate vision, Vissioneering is the perfect tool to help you develop and maintain God’s unique purpose for your life.

It helped me understand “Everybody ends up somewhere in life. You can end up somewhere on PURPOSE!” This resource will equip you to develop and maintain a plan to get there. It’s the best on vision I’ve seen.
